Introduction
Net grounds are grounds with repeats of usualy one stitch. There are several ways of placing the stitches:
Please note: the second and third diagrams are equivalent in GroundForge terms. It is possible to define a strechted honeycomb for the prototype diagram. The pair diagram however will initially show kite shapes, when activating the animation these kites will reshape into squares with a 45 degree angle. Only when defining plaits as stitches you will see the honeycomb again in the thread diagram.
It gets interesting, if we would use two (or more) different stitches. These grounds are known as “chaotic ground”, “alternating ground”, …

Horizontal net
Horizontal nets can also be found in tape lace like Milanese, Hunnia and Russian lace.
A horizontal net ground made with non traditional stitches like crcl is called Embellished clothwork.
