Flanders grounds
Introduction
For the 20th anniversary of the LOKK chapter “‘t Groene Hart” in 2005, the members created these patches of Flanders grounds, each with another variation of stitches.
Lesson learnt: Many types of stitch combinations keep the pairs together or let them follow a straight path.
You get the most exotic variants, even when working monochrome, with stitches that twist just one of the pairs,
sadly these patterns are also more error prone. So do keep the generated thread diagram at hand.
See also Whiting A2, B2, B6, C6, C9, Droste ctct and rose ground in a diamond grounds.
For the actual lace the pins can be placed like a Flanders ground, or as a Torchon Rose ground, as shown in the following picture.
Should you notice a photograph that doesn’t match the generated thread diagram, please contact us. Note that some patterns happily mix the open and closed method. Both tctc
and ctct
will become red in the color-coded diagrams and tc
and ct
will both become green.
